LETTER OF OUR CHAIRMAN - RISE RAISES THE ROOF

How RISE Brought Relief to an Orange County Family Victimized by Hurricane Ian

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, the Orange County Long Term Recovery Group (RISE) emerged as a beacon of hope for many affected residents, including the Thompson family. Recognizing the sensitivity of their situation, the true name of the Thompson family has been changed to protect their privacy. Their home, weathered and worn after 20 years, suffered significant roof damage during the storm. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, retirees living on a fixed income, faced the daunting task of repairing their home, all while caring for Mr. Thompson, who is partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

Understanding the challenges encountered by families such as the Thompsons, RISE collaborates with a wide array of local, statewide and national organizations, including but not limited to the American Red Cross, Volunteer Florida, Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, and Endeavors. Together, these partnerships enable RISE to offer vital assistance.

OUR PARTNERS

RISE Orange County has many partners with other nonprofits, faith-based organizations, businesses, and government agencies that came together to assist neighbors in need after Hurricane Irma in 2018. This group of caring and compassionate members has the goal to aid Orange County residents in recovering from the devastating effects of a hurricane.
